The illustrations by Charles Keeping are beautiful and shocking
By Ramsbottom-isherwood
An intensely human retelling of the greek myths, particularly that of Hercules and his labours. Wise and occasionally sly, and ultimately very moving. For me, this, and its companion piece 'The God Beneath the Sea', are amongst my most cherished possessions. The illustrations by Charles Keeping are beautiful and shocking. It is a thing of perfection.

Lyrical and magical prose.
By pronker
This book has the prose that Garfield always delivers, though I'm uncertain about Blishen's contribution and certainly don't want to slight the co-author. But, Garfield in "God Beneath The Sea" captivated me with its retelling of the Greek legend of Hephaestus, while weaving in many other characters from classical myth. Particularly entrancing was Hermes, a god in "Sea" and also in "Shadow," truly one of the most 'human' of the Greek pantheon. The protagonist in "Shadow" is a standin for Homer, or maybe it /is/ Homer, I don't know, but his all-too-human yearning to see an actual god is understandable and at the end of the book, attained. This really deserves its five-star rating for the glory of its prose.

Tau Zero, by Poul Anderson

This science fiction novel describes the epic voyage of the spacecraft Leonora Christine, which will take a fifty-strong crew to a planet some thirty light years distant.

From practically the very first page, Tau Zero sets scientific realities in dramatic tension with the very real emotional and psychological states of the travelers, exploring the effect of time contraction due to traveling at near-light speed on the human psyche. This tension is a dynamic that Anderson explores with great success over the course of the novel as fifty crewmembers settle in for the long journey together. While they are a highly trained team of scientists and researchers and therefore professionals, they are also a community of individuals, each of them trying to create for him or herself a life in a whole new space -- or, literally, in space.

It isn't long, however, before the voyage takes a turn for the worse. The ship passes through a small, uncharted nebula that makes it impossible to decelerate the ship. Their only hope is to do the opposite and speed up. But acceleration towards and within the speed of light means that time outside the spaceship passes even more rapidly, sending the crew deeper into space and further into an unknown future.

Simply mind boggling
By Robert Lee Morris
This tale of science fiction takes our imaginations way beyond anything we people of Earth have ever conceived. Poul Anderson deserves all the accolades and prizes he has won for his mind knows no bounds as this unique story will prove. No matter how advanced our science has come today, in 2016, this visionary will remain as relevant as ever. I loved the insane speed implied throughout the journey through our universe.

Interesting, and slightly flawed, Sci Fi title
By Robert Gamble
This is a quite good novel dealing with a hard science fiction situation and handling the characters' reactions to said situation. As summarized elsewhere, a crew sets out on a spaceship to another star and likely habitable planet. They need to reach a significant fraction of the speed of light to do so, and on the way they suffer an accident that prevents them from decelerating. Due to their speed, time moves faster in the universe than it does for them, and how they attempt to save the situation and cope with the psychological issues is well done. Anderson manages the unusual for me, in that I felt as though I were on the ship itself, and went through the ups and downs emotionally as the crew did. There are some poignant moments, exceptional writing, and awe inspiring imagery.

I also found some of the technology to be interesting in that it seems just as likely today as it did when the book was written: specifically the 'Dream Chambers' (or whatever they were called, I forget) which provide the viewer with alternate realities as psychotherapy/recreation.

That said, there are some minor problems that bring this down from a true classic to merely a 4 star work in my mind. The first is the 'digressions' where the author describes the science of speed, time and space to the reader. He chooses to tell this information at appropriate moments in the story, and does so as if he's lecturing the reader directly. This obviously breaks up the flow of the story. Due to the importance of the science, the fact that almost everyone on the ship would know this science and therefore be unlikely to have long conversations about the subject sufficient to be helpful to the reader, this solution may be the most effective possible. Alternatively he could have included a Foreward discussing this information, but the reader may not have done so, which could lead to confusion.

My second issue with the book is the focus on relationships. To me, a lot of this seemed forced and felt as though the author was trying to say something important about relationships in general, or at least in the future, and didn't quite impart this information to the reader. That said, most of the relationships felt 'real' enough.

My final real issue was the ending. I actually wished it would have ended a couple of chapters previously with a more ambiguous outcome than the almost Hollywood style ending that it ended up with. The explanation for how it finished was much less understandable to me than the science in the rest of the book.

Still, the good outweighed the bad in this novel, and I can highly recommend it to anyone interested in issues of time and space.

By Madasser
It's alright, don't know what else to say.
The author chose to focus more on the personal lives of a couple crew members and the drama of their relationships rather than the science or adventure of space travel. That choice is usually fine by me except the character development is lacking and I found it difficult to really care what happens to the main characters.

Sookie Stackhouse enjoys her job as a cocktail waitress in Merlotte's, a small-town bar in small-town Bon Temps, deep in Louisiana. She's funny and pretty and, thanks to her grandmother, she's very well-mannered - but since not many people truly appreciate her ability to read their minds, the guys haven't exactly been beating down her door ...And then along came Bill, tall, dark and handsome - and Sookie couldn't 'hear' a word he was thinking. He was exactly the type of guy she'd been waiting all her life for. Of course, Bill had a disability of his own: fussy about his food, not into suntans, bit of a night person: yep, Bill was a vampire. But at least now Sookie nows there *are* guys she can date who won't worry about her catching them thinking about other women ...

Great trashy romantic read
By Claire Teschendorf
I decided to read these books as I love the True Blood TV series, and although the books differ quite a lot from the TV series, I really enjoyed the books.

The books are not very difficult to read, but if you enjoy a good trashy, fast paced romance/action novel, I would highly recommend these books. I found myself appreciating some of the characters more in the books than the TV series, and the plots differ so greatly (comparing the TV series and the books) that I found I was happily surprised and kept interested.

Once again these are no "War and Peace", but I love the fast, witty writing, the interesting characters, and enjoyed escaping into these books for a little while.

New in Bon Temps
By Arthur W Jordin
True Blood Omnibus (2009) is the first Fantasy omnibus in the True Blood series. This volume contains Dead Until Dark, Living Dead in Dallas and Club Dead.

Dead Until Dark (2001) is the first novel in this series. Sookie does a little dance step from joy before she grabs her pad and heads over to the vampire's table. He is pale, of course, but quite handsome. He asks, in cool, clear tones, for a bottle of synthetic blood, but has to settle for red wine; Sam Merlotte, the bar's owner, had ordered synthetic blood, but hasn't received the shipment.

As she is serving the vampire, Mack Rattray makes one of his usual comments about Crazy Sookie. When Mack and his wife Denise had first come into the bar, Sookie had rudely listened to their thoughts (she had been very bored that night) and she knew more about them than anyone else in town. She hadn't told anyone what she knew, but their thoughts gave her a very low opinion of the pair. Then, too, their behavior hadn't done anything to make her think more highly of them.

When the Rattrays move over to the vampire's table, Sookie comments on their manners to Arlene, another waitress. Arlene hadn't yet caught on to the new guy being a vampire, but Sookie sets her straight. Denise apparently already knew that he was a vamp, for she sat there showing off her neck to the guy.

Then Jason, Sookie's brother, comes into the bar. After hugging her, he checks out the bar to see who's available. He has his eyes on DeeAnne, but she has come in with a trucker. No matter, the other women in the bar made not-so-subtle efforts to attract his attention.

After a while, Sookie looks back at the table with the vampire and the Rattrays and notices an avid expression of Mack's face. She listens to his thoughts for a while and learns that Mack had been in jail for vampire draining. Usually draining is fatal to the vampires and, even if they survive, it takes twenty years to recover (according to what Sookie had heard on Oprah).

Living Dead in Dallas (2002) is the second novel in this series. Andy Bellefleur is three sheets to the wind at Merlotte's Bar and Grill. Since he doesn't often get drunk, Sookie listens to his thoughts and regrets it. Andy had to arrest a man for assaulting a ten year old neighbor; now the girl is in the hospital, the man in jail, and Andy is drowning his memories. Sookie gives him a free drink and calls his sister Portia.

Andy leaves his car in the parking lot and the next morning Sookie discovers a body in it when she comes to work. Lafayette Reynold, the bar's late shift cook, is sprawled dead in the back seat. Since the seat is not soaked in blood, the county police assume that he had been killed elsewhere and then placed in the car.

That night, Bill Compton informs Sookie that they have been summoned to the Fangtasia bar for an assignment. Sookie has agreed to work for the Vampire Area 5 Sheriff, Eric Northman, and he has temporarily traded their services to the Area 6 Sheriff. Sookie and Bill are to fly to Dallas so that she can read the minds of some humans; Bill is going along as her manager and bodyguard.

Sookie takes her first airplane ride on a commercial jet to Dallas and Bill is shipped in his coffin on Anubis Air. While Bill's coffin is being unloaded, a priest comes up to Sookie and talks to her. She responds politely, but something makes her suspicious. Then he grabs her and tries to drag her through a door, but Bill rescues her.

After Sookie and Bill reach their hotel, Sookie notices that the bellboy is telepathic, at about the same level of development that she had reached as a teenager. She doesn't mention her discovery to Bill, for Barry is obviously uncomfortable around vampires. Sookie wonders why he is working in a vampire hotel.

Club Dead (2003) is the third novel in this series. Bill Compton leaves town after hiding his database files and computer system in Sookie Stackhouse's closet. He tells Sookie that he is going to Seattle, but she knows that he is lying. Then Bubba shows up sitting on her front porch swing.

Bubba says that Eric has sent him to guard her, but doesn't know why. Sookie is on her way to work, but decides that Bubba can't go into the bar area; after all, he is too well known to just sit at a table. Bubba refuses to stay in the car in the back parking lot since he couldn't know when she is threatened. They finally agree that Bubba can sit in the office while Sookie is working.

As Sookie goes into the building to get Sam's permission, a Were gang member grabs her and then Bubba crushes his throat. After a bit of confusion involving Kevin -- a local cop -- Sookie, Sam and Bubba clean up the area and stash the body out of sight. Then Pam shows up later asking about Bubba.

Sookie learns that Bill has gone to Jackson after being summoned by Lorena, his master. He had called Fangtasia the previous night stating that he was coming back to Bon Temps to take care of some business, but he had never arrived. Eric has learned something about Bill's whereabouts from paid informants, but he can't just go searching for Bill since Mississippi is outside his jurisdiction. Indeed, it is a separate Vampire Kingdom.

Sookie can't read vampire minds, but she can go listen to the human minds in the Mississippi Kingdom. Eric has arranged for a Were named Alcide Herveaux to take her to Jackson and to provide an apartment. Alcide will also escort her in Josephine's, a vampire bar that caters to other supernaturals as well. The Weres, however, call the bar Club Dead.

The next installment in this omnibus sequence is True Blood Omnibus II.

Highly recommended for Harris fans and for anyone else who enjoys tales of preternatural creatures, telepathic waitresses, and a bit of romance. Read and enjoy!

I would recommend buying each book separately rather than buying as a set because if you are like me, the terrible editing (or lack of) just isn't worth it. This edition needs re-edited. There are letters missing & a few typos. Other than this its great

About the Author
Agatha Christie is the best-selling author of all time. She wrote eighty crime novels and story collections, fourteen plays, and several other books. Her books have sold roughly four billion copies and have been translated into 45 languages. She is the creator of the two most enduring figures in crime literature—Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple—and author of The Mousetrap, the longest-running play in the history of modern theatre. Christie was born in Torquay, Devon in 1890. She died in 1976 in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.

From AudioFile
Special kudos to the voice casting executive at Audio Editions for this project! Horror screen icon Christopher Lee, thrust suddenly into the spotlight again in his 80s, thanks to his stint in LORD OF THE RINGS, steps up to the mike and delivers a vocal masterpiece. Lee embodies blue bloods and cockneys alike with equal aplomb, burnishing Christie's mysteries to a high and satisfying finish. The material is perfectly chosen as well--strong, tight mysteries with three-dimensional characters, particularly the title story with its sophisticated, Sherlock Holmes-ish surprise ending. More lavish packaging would be a nice touch for this audiobook, but that's a niggling concern--this collection of mysteries finds its solution in sterling acting and recording. D.J.B. 11 short stories without Poirot or Marple
By Michele L. Worley
Each story herein, except "The Second Gong", has also appeared in either _The Hound of Death_ or _The Listerdale Mystery_. Some of the stories are fantasy fiction rather than mysteries, but don't be *too* quick to assign supernatural causes to anything.
"Accident" (1929) - Evans (formerly Inspector Evans of the CID) recognizes in the six-years-married Merrowdenes the notorious Mrs. Anthony, acquitted of poisoning her first husband - judged to have died of an accidental overdose of arsenic. As a girl, her stepfather accidentally fell to his death from a cliff during a walk. Not looking good for *Mr.* Merrowdene...
"The Fourth Man" (December 1925) As a supernatural story, best appreciated in Christie's fantasy-dominated collection _The Hound of Death_. Three ever-so-superior professional men - minister, physician, and lawyer - begin discussing a famous multiple personality case during a night train journey. Even though they're missing a fourth point of view - that of the man in the street - they ignore the fourth man in their compartment...
"The Mystery of the Blue Jar" (1933) Jack Hartington lives for golf; since he's 24 and has to earn a living, he lives near a golf course where he can practice every morning before work. Then screams no one else hears begin coming from a cottage near the course, every morning at the same time - and whatever's going on centers around the image of a woman holding a blue jar.
"The Mystery of the Spanish Shawl" a.k.a. "Mr. Eastwood's Adventure" (August 1924) Anthony Eastwood is stuck, trying to create a plot for the title "The Mystery of the Second Cucumber", when a mysterious phone call with 1 word - 'cucumber' - entangles him in a *real* mystery.
"Philomel Cottage" (November 1924) Businesslike Alix King expected to marry Dick Windyford, fellow clerk, when they could afford it - but he was too proud to propose when she got a windfall inheritance. Then Gerald Martin swept her off her feet in a whirlwind courtship - a perfect stranger. But like Bluebeard's wives, Alix gets curious about his past...
"The Red Signal" (June 1924) Sir Alington West, a distinguished alienist, has no time for ESP. His nephew Dermot has had a few 'red signals' in his life, but as his uncle points out, he'd seen signs of impending mortal peril and just hadn't consciously put them together. But why should he have it during a party - when the only danger is his hidden love for his best friend's wife?
"The Second Gong" - An early version of "Dead Man's Mirror", written first but published later. I recommend the expanded rewrite in the _Dead Man's Mirror_ collection.
"Sing a Song of Sixpence" (1934) Elderly Sir Edward Palliser, K.C., never expected to see Magdalen Vaughn again after a shipboard romance - let alone to be taken up on his offer to help if she ever needed it! Her family sponged off Great-aunt Lily Crabtree, who has been brutally murdered - and they're the chief suspects.
"S.O.S." (February 1926) The Dinsmead family - pompous father, worn-down mother, and 3 grown children - moved to a lonely country home rather abruptly upon Mr. Dinsmead's retirement from the building trade. They're all unhappy, except the father, who seems to have something up his sleeve. Then a stranger (parapsychologist Mortimer Cleveland), stranded for the night by a flat tire, finds a mysterious message written in the dust beside his bed...
"Where There's a Will" a.k.a. "Wireless" (1926) Mary Harter's physician, in the style of the old school, was far more blunt about the seriousness of her heart condition to her nephew than to her. Charles, making a parade of his superior knowledge of modern technology, wheedles her into getting not only an elevator, but a radio...which seems to justify all her misgivings about these electrical contraptions when it begins relaying messages from her late husband, saying that he's coming for her...
"The Witness for the Prosecution" (1933) Unlike the Billy Wilder film version, here the viewpoint character and chief investigator is the prisoner's solicitor, Mayherne; the K.C. conducting the court case isn't even named. The information brought out during testimony in the film mostly appears during Vole's interview with Mayherne. The adaptation was faithful, except that here Vole's first meeting with Emily French is more dramatic, and her fluffy-headed eccentric image wasn't translated to film. The ending of the story, though, isn't as trite the movie's.

Satisfying Short Sagas of Surprise and Suspense
By George R Dekle
Anyone familiar with the 1957 Billy Wilder film "Witness for the Prosecution" knows the plot of the title story. The short story, however, is told from an entirely different vantage point. The change in focus doesn't rob the story of any of its sting, and the product is every bit as entertaining as the excellent movie.
Christie tells the remaining stories in a taut, fast-paced, and satisfying manner, and more than once brings the story to a quite unexpected climax.

IMPRESSIVE
By A Customer
This is the best of Christie's short stories. They are ingenious works with quick and instant gratification, sometimes the best for those who can't wait. Of course there are a couple of bummers, but if you need short stories these are the best you can get. Philomel Cottage is one I would recommend leaving the lights on for. That thing haunted me for days to come!

A Christmas Carol, by Charles Ludlam

adapted from the novel by Charles Dickens

Holiday Comedy

Characters: 17 male, 14 female, double casting and cross-gender casting possible

Multiple Settings

A Ridiculous but surprisingly faithful rendition of the Dickens classic in which Ebenezer Scrooge is haunted by the ghosts of his late partner, Jacob Marley, Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come. Faced with his own mortality, and the evil results of his misanthropic, miserly ways, Scrooge is redeemed, reconciled with his nephew and his neighbors, and becomes a second father to his assistant's son, Tiny Tim.

Ludlam finds the humor as well as the pathos in this Victorian melodrama, creating the most Dickensian and stageworthy adaptation yet.

"A faithful, authentic adaptation of the evergreen Christmas tale."- The New York Times

"A perfect holiday entertainment." - SoHo Weekly News "A delicious family treat."- Christian Science Monitor

Drama

Characters: 9 male

Interior Set

This seminal work of the Off-Broadway movement premiered in 1968 and was a long-running hit onstage, later filmed with the original cast. In 2010, the play made a triumphant return to New York City in an highly praised production produced by Drama Desk and Obie Award winning Transport Group.

In his upper eastside Manhattan apartment, Michael is throwing a birthday party for Harold, a self-awoved "32 year-old, pock-marked, Jew fairy", complete with surprise gift: "Cowboy" a street hustler. As the evening wears on, fueled by drugs and alcohol, bitter, unresolved resentments among the guests come to light when a game of "Truth" goes terribly wrong.

"A play of real substance, one that deserves to be performed not occasionally but regularly."-The Wall Street Journal

"...terrifically thoughtful...The Boys in the Band emerges remarkably universal."-NY1

"...deliriously delicious..."-Gay City News

"The Boys in the Band... goes from wittily bitchy to heartbreakingly brutal..."-Out Magazine

"Witty, bitchy, revelatory and dazzlingly entertaining...the excoriating wit is still there."-New York Post

"Humor is still on key in this poignant, sparkling revival of a landmark gay play...the star of the evening is the play itself solidly built, still moving and enormously entertaining."-New York Daily News

"This is a play that takes the homosexual way of life totally for granted and uses this as a valid basis for human experience...the power of the play is the way in which it remorselessly peels away the pretensions of its characters."-The New York Times

How it was before AIDS and gay lib
By othoniaboys
This is a clever play that enjoyed enormous success some forty years ago, ten years before AIDS and before gay people dared to hope that they would ever be accepted. It presents us with a slice of gay male life as it was back then. It deals with the spiritual aridity of gay life among a group of gay men meeting to celebrate the birthday of one of them, who is presented with a young hustler as a gift. None of these men are getting anywhere. Although the obligatory suicide or murder is missing from this play, it still presents a damning view of homosexuality that must have pleased the moralists. There is no mention of the budding gay rights movement, which got off the ground between the play and the movie, but one can be sure that these losers would never have joined the movement anyway. It reminds me of a gay party I attended in 1976. Everybody there was drunk except me. They were staggering around talking nonsense about how respectable they had become. They were just as demoralized as the guys in the play.

Still important
By Paul Scott
Read with my book group. Fascinating to read it as a historical period piece. Very well written and easily leads to a discussion as to how things are different (or the same). Still controversial but an important read.

A SNAPSHOT OF ANOTHER TIME...
By Donald Carroll
One of my favorite plays...It may be dated and it may be camp, but it's classic and holds its own. Well developed characters that you can love or hate...strong language...gay humor and a little bit of truth here and there. A snapshot of another time...

A complete insight into one of Britain's most celebrated novelists of our time. Rebecca was one of the great bestsellers. It has been read all around the world, and in many laguages. It has been highly successful as a play, a film, a television serial. Now Daphne Du Maurier reveals, very fascinatingly, how it came to be written: its origins, its development, the directions it might have taken, The original outline of the novel is here, and so is the original Epilogue. Daphne Du Maurier also reveals how she first came upon the secret house hidden away in Cornish woodland, that was to become the romantic setting of Rebecca: a house which stood derelict, and which she lovingly restored to make it her own home.

'Dame Daphne's wise and attractive new book will enchant her many readers' SUNDAY EXPRESS

About the Author
Daphne du Maurier (1907 - 89) was born in London, the daughter of the famous actor-manager Sir Gerald du Maurier and granddaughter of George du Maurier, the author and artist. She began writing short stories and articles in 1928 and in 1931 her first novel, THE LOVING SPIRIT, was published. It was the novel REBECCA that launched her into the literary stratosphere and made her one of the most popular authors of all time.

More Background Information for Du Maurier Fans
By C. Mathieu
I've read the other reviews and decided to add something new that has not yet been mentioned here before, but might be of interest to a few Du Maurier fans who plan a trip to Fowey in Cornwall, UK.

The most interesting chapters in this autobiographical book are the ones on how Du Maurier got inspired to write "Rebecca" while she and her husband were in Egypt and the "House of Secrets" chapter in which she talks about the time when she discovered the house 15 years earlier as a young girl vacationing in Fowey, Cornwall, with her parents and two sisters.
But I also got a lot out of her chapter on aging and widowhood.

What I enjoyed particularly was the fact that the autobiographical chapters have been put together in chronological order, so you can read the book from the first to the last page and notice that the next chapter is taking place later in Du Maurier's life and so on.

I've read all her novels and her (auto)biographies starting with
- The Glass Blowers (this is about her ancestors who immigrated from France to England during the French Revolution)
- Mary Anne (another ancestor who was the mistress of a British aristocrat)
- George DuMaurier (Daphne's grandfather who became famous for the magazine "Punch" and his novel "Trilby")
- Gerald Du Maurier (Daphne's father, a popular stage actor and later theater director in London)
- Growing Pains (Daphne's memoir from when she was a child until her honeymoon where she got inspired to write her wonderful novel "Frenchman's Creek")
In-between I would suggest reading Margaret Forster's biography which offers more information on Daphne's life
- The Rebecca Notebook (the last chapter was written by Daphne Du Maurier a few years, before her demise)

The special thing about Du Maurier is her love for certain houses/mansions. The locations in her books are all real and almost more important than the protagonists. I've been to Cornwall twice in my life and have seen the Helford River (satyed on the opposite side of Frenchman's Creek and also was on the Creek side and walked down from Donna St. Columb's house, I found Menabilly (crossed the property illegally :)), Kilmarth (her last home close to Menabilly), Fowey, their first house Ferryside opposite of Fowey in Boddinick, Readymony Cove next to Catherine's Castle in Fowey (where Daphne lived after she was able to rent her dream house while Menabilly was renovated), but I still haven't seen Cannon Hall in London.
However, I did the long walk mentioned in Forster's biography starting at Ferryside leading uphill and saw all the places mentioned.
I stopped several times at Jamaica Inn in Bodmin Moor, too.

After you are familiar with "Rebecca", I can highly recommend reading "Frenchman's Creek", "The House on the Strand" (taking place in Kilmarth plus there is a Bodrugan's Leap to which public has access) and "The King's General" (another Menabilly novel with a real background and real existing people as protagonists (check out the metal plate hanging inside the church in Tywardreath, Cornwall, look for Honor Harris)).

There is also a lovely documentary on her life (check out amazon.co.uk).

Up close and personal with Daphne du Maurier... and Rebecca
By CoffeeGurl
Having recently devoured most of her novels and short stories, and having read a fictional account about her, I've decided to read one of Daphne du Maurier's autobiographies. I was not able to obtain a copy of Myself When Young, her first memoir, but I did manage to obtain a library copy of The Rebecca Notebook and Other Memories.

This wonderful book contains notes, musings and rough drafts of Rebecca when the novel was still a work-in-progress. Du Maurier also recalls aspects of her first years of marriage and her first impressions of her home estate called Menabilly. She also gives insights into her mind as she focuses on her work. Rebecca is very much loved among readers, and having this account of how its creator comes about writing it while going through some personal growth herself is fascinating. The book, while insightful, doesn't compare to her novels though. (Hence the three stars.) It is also quite short. I was able to finish rather quickly. Still, this is a good thing to read if you're a fan of this author. I have read about Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and others, and wanted to read about this author -- from her own pen at that! I very much look forward to reading either Myself When Young or The Du Mauriers. There is also The Daphne du Maurier Companion and other biographies that talk about her supposed extramarital affairs and rumored bisexuality, which Ms. Du Maurier remarks upon by way of her "male alter ego" Richard Young in The House on the Strand. Those books all seem interesting, but in the meantime get this at the library if available.

This Is Like Reading Daphne Du Maurier's Diary
By Bonnie M.
I enjoyed this book even more than "Rebecca," as she talks about what was going on in her life and gives so many personal insights to Daphne the woman and the writer.

This Book was Made for the Actor or Director
By TitanicFan29
I purchased this book because I am a theatre student and I had to perform a scene out of this play for my acting class.

This book is definitely the "actor's version" of the book, because it has chock-full of stage direction from playwright, which is great if you are interested in how to block your scenes should you be fortunate enough to perform it.

Other than that, the play itself is definitely of an adult nature, the language makes only vague references to sex and prostitution, but still a comedy nonetheless.

There was some highlighting at the end of the play. Other than that it was in great condition. Thank you
