About the Author
Mario Bernheim began his career as an assistant to film director, Joel Schumacher at Universal Studios before moving to New York City where he got involved with the story department's of CBS, Fox and MGM as a story analyst. After which he returned to Universal Studios in Hollywood to be director of development for producer Topper Carew. Shortly thereafter, he became a founding staff member of Comic Relief (hosted by Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg and Billy Crystal) as seen live on Home Box Office. Over the course of twelve years, he rose in ranks to be Co-Producer for many TV specials including; "Comic Relief '90" at Radio City Music Hall, "Hurricane Relief", for Showtime, "A Comedy Salute to Michael Jordan", for NBC, and other specials on HBO, ABC, FOX and COMEDY CENTRAL. As Co-Producer he was involved with the range of responsibilities including the creative writing of the shows and production, to the administering of the $50 million dollars in donations throughout the nation. Since Comic Relief, he has been in active development with projects with such companies as Icon Entertainment, The Pitt Group and as Director of Development for Hit Entertainment, his principal objective was to search out and develop quality screenwriting properties. He's completed writing his second feature screenplay and co-wrote a one-hour television drama drama. An avid traveler, with a keen interest in cross-cultural similarities, he has visited more than twenty-two countries on multiple continents.

A Book for your Soul

This 267 page book houses a captivating, invigorating story of the ultimate test of faith. It is the story of Michael, a man who has it all and loses it all. In a parody to the biblical story of Job, Lucifer challenges God that there really is no righteous man left on earth. Michael has some serious stuff, nice house in a fancy neighborhood, several pricey cars, stocks, bonds. The wife has pricey jewelry and designer gowns. While not the most costly stuff, what they have is well above what most of us have. So, it's a lot easier to be upbeat, thankful, and appreciative to God for all that you have when you want for nothing and wallow in luxury, right? So, Lucifer asks God to let him play with Michael a bit, to test Michael's faith. God agrees to back off, but only until He says it's over. Throughout the story, we watch Michael lose EVERYTHING, one bit at a time, like a slow growing cancer.
Will Michael's faith withstand the ultimate test? How many of us could endure this torture of watching the life we are comfortable with die, one piece at a time? Extremely well written and going the full gammit of extreme joy to extreme sorrow and back again, I found myself deeply caught up in the emotional impact of the story. Where is it going next? How much more must Michael endure? When will he get his life back, or will he ever? Or is THIS his life forever. I thought it was absolutely incredible and profound as to the meaning of life. What you "have", is it really "yours" and for how long? Or is it just an illusion, on loan to you from God. To the many people who have said, "God, why did YOU do this to me?" I urge you to read this book, from the bottom of my heart. This book is suitable for all, and would even make an excellent gift for your favorite nun or priest/pastor, or anyone who believes in God.
In this story, although our hero enjoyed material wealth, it was never a part of his persona. How many people identify themselves with material things or other people? Where would they be if they lost it all?
And what about those annoying street people? Who were they BEFORE they had to beg? How did they get to this point in life? THOU SHALT NOT JUDGE, and for good reason! By the way, what kind of a friend are you? Are you happy only when things are going right? Do you really care about your friends? What if they needed something major from you? Would you be too busy? This book has you asking yourself some really profound questions. Much like the movie "It's a Wonderful Life," our hero has a life-altering experience.
OK, maybe we already know the basic storyline, or can guess the basic outcome, but how many times have you watched a movie, or a remake of a movie, when you already read the book or saw the original movie? How many times have you watched the same movie over and over again? (I must have watched "Pretty Woman" about 30 times or more, because I LOVED the feel-good outcome. I LOVED to see good triumph.) By the way, I think Michael's Reward would make an excellent movie. We follow Michael through, to the end of his life. It was a beautiful life and a WONDERFULLY written story. The end was peaceful and joyful. Put this one HIGH on your reading list!!! I immediately bought a copy for a friend.

A spiritual stimulus package for anyone!

It's been several weeks since I read Michael's Reward. When I read it, I ate it up in one sitting and it has left me with a renewed inner spiritual life. My prayer life and friendship with God had atrophied a great deal. This well written story has brought that spiritual connection back to life. I knew about the traditional story of Job from the Bible and thought that I would know the story before I read it. WRONG! It's written in a way that makes the old story entirely new. Some say that what we have here on the physical plain is maya or illusion.
This book has a radiance in it that gives the reader a taste, a brief glimpse of a higher reality. With me I was fortunate because this higher vibe has stayed with me. I loaned the book to a good friend of mine and I hope she gets it back soon because I want to read it again. If you need a spiritual bailout or spiritual stimulus package - - READ THIS BOOK! - -
